Home / FAQ

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ) for custom metal parts?

There is no fixed MOQ for our custom metal parts, which is decided on a per-product basis. We advise sea shipments to hit a minimum order value of $3,500, since small shipments come with much higher forwarding fees. Air shipping is more flexible with no rigid value requirement.

How long is the typical lead time from drawing approval to shipment?

Lead time starts after sample approval: Basic stampings with ready tooling take 3–4 weeks, while complex welded assemblies or parts needing new dies take 4–8 weeks (standard lead time is 4 weeks). We will attach a complete production schedule to each quote to support your inventory planning.

Do you provide samples before mass production?

Yes. We provide pre-production samples (PPS) for customer approval before starting mass production. For new die-developed parts, we send first-off samples for dimensional and functional verification. Sample lead time is typically 2–4 weeks.

What quality certifications does ARW hold?

ARW Industries holds IATF 16949 certification for automotive quality management and ISO 9001 certification across all four factories. IATF 16949 covers our series production for automotive OEM and Tier-1 customers, ensuring strict process control, traceability and continuous improvement. ISO 9001 applies to all manufacturing operations including metal stamping, welding, bending, coating and plastic injection molding.

Can you produce parts to our custom drawings and specifications?

Absolutely. Over 95% of our production is custom-made to customer drawings, samples or specifications. We accept files in PDF, DWG, STEP, IGES and SolidWorks formats. Our engineering team reviews every drawing for manufacturability (DFM) and will flag any potential issues before quoting. We can also reverse-engineer from physical samples or photographs.

What materials do you work with?

We work with cold-rolled and hot-rolled steel, aluminum sheets and extruded profiles, copper and brass, and engineering plastics for injection-molded components. Surface finishes include powder coating (any RAL color), e-coating, chrome plating, zinc plating and hot-dip galvanizing.

Do you ship directly to the United States and Europe?

Yes. The United States and Europe are our core export markets, accounting for over 80% of our shipments. We ship FOB Shanghai or Tianjin as standard, and can arrange CIF, DDP or door-to-door delivery upon request. We have long-standing partnerships with freight forwarders experienced in North American and European customs clearance. Typical sea freight time is 18–25 days to the US West Coast and 35–45 days to Northern Europe.

What surface finishes are available?

We offer a full range of surface finishing in-house:

  • Powder coating — any RAL color, textured or smooth, even transparent which is the hardest!
  • E-coating (electrophoretic deposition) for auto parts
  • Chrome plating for decorative and wear-resistant applications
  • Zinc plating for rust prevention
  • Hot-dip galvanizing for heavy-duty outdoor use

We also perform shot blasting, deburring and silk-screen printing.

How do you handle quality control during production?

Quality control follows a four-stage process:

  • Incoming material inspection — verified against mill certificates
  • In-process inspection — at each fabrication stage using calibrated gauges and fixtures
  • Pre-shipment inspection — dimensions, appearance, assembly fit and packaging
  • Final Inspection — per AQL standards

All non-conforming parts are segregated and documented. We welcome third-party inspections and can provide detailed inspection reports with every shipment.

What industries do you serve?

We serve four primary industries:

  • Automotive — chassis brackets, structural stampings, exhaust hangers
  • Retail shop fittings — display racks, shelving, hooks and brackets
  • Furniture — legs, frames, brackets, hinges and finished metal furniture
  • General machinery — stamped housings, milled brackets, cast components and plastic injection parts

Our IATF 16949 certification makes us especially suitable for automotive supply chains.
